From Taiwan to Thailand: A Vision Realized Through Manufacturing Excellence

Yumark's story began in Taiwan,

Mr. Matt Chen founded Yumark in Taiwan with a vision that started small — just three pieces of hair barrettes. A trip to Thailand, and what he discovered in the country’s manufacturing precision and textile expertise, changed everything.

1989

That first Bangkok office started small too — a team of just three or four people, most of them fresh out of university. Mr. Chen personally introduced our earliest customers, and the team learned everything by doing: taking orders, solving problems, and building relationships one project at a time. By the end of that first year, in 1990, the hard work had paid off — and the business was growing fast.

Since that year, Yumark Thailand has been led and grown by Co-Founder and CEO Ms. Suwannee Ma, who transformed a small branch office into a specialist manufacturer trusted by international partners for more than three decades. Material & Product Research, Development & Design, Engineering, Customer Relationships, and Finance are all managed independently, right here in Thailand — giving our partners a single, responsive point of contact from first concept to final delivery. While Yumark Thailand shares its founding vision with Mr. Matt Chen, Chairman of the Yumark Group, our daily operations are entirely our own.

From 1990 to 2001, our fabric hair accessories business grew steadily, and in 1998 we transformed from a trading firm into a manufacturer — a shift that shaped everything that followed. Scrunchies quickly became a core focus, refined through rising demand and hands-on experience, project by project.

When China opened its doors to global manufacturing in 2000, we responded by strengthening our commitment to local supply chains in Thailand — a strategy that remains core to how we source fabric today.

In 2014, we reorganized as Yumark Enterprise (Thailand) Co., Ltd. Five years later, drawing on three decades of expertise in fabric hair accessories made in Thailand, we opened a second, semi-automated facility in Buri Ram to meet growing demand for scrunchies, headbands, and headwraps.

By 2021, our 33rd year in business, transformation had become part of who we are — investing in eco-friendly manufacturing practices and deepening the trust we’ve built with our partners along the way.
